wonder; a marvel; the thing that makes people stop.
the word the Gospels reach for when crowds marveled at what Jesus did.
what a production team builds in the dark, before the room ever fills.
Thauma is a production ministry for the Protestant churches of Croatia and the broader Balkans. The need is simple to state: churches need help with production — audio, video, lighting, streaming, and the people who run them — and no organization exists to meet that need on the ground in this region.
These churches are small, scattered, and volunteer-run. Aging equipment with no one trained to use it. Volunteers operating complex systems with no one to learn from. No training pipeline, no peer network, no budget for the consultants that serve Western churches. The need is real — and the people carrying it, the ones who arrive first and leave last, need what every isolated servant needs: skill, support, and the company of others who do what they do.
We go as learners and participants of the cultures where we serve. We are not there to recreate churches in the image of any outside model — we come alongside what the local church has already established, meeting needs as those churches define them. That is why language and cultural learning come first, dominate the early years, and never fully end.
Thauma is a Missouri nonprofit in formation, serving the whole Protestant church across denominations.
